The Dusk

Hey, Blackstone residents! Been a minute.

You're probably wondering 'Where art thou, Dusk?"

A good question! The answer is - we're plugging away at this graphic novel, and making sure it's not only our best work ever, but that it lives up to the hype!

So here's a status report:

David Hahn, our intrepid artist, is about a fourth of the way in terms of lineart, and Ellie Wright, our colorist, is diving in on polishing up those pages.

Want a sampling? Here are the three most recent pages David uploaded. Let's take a minute to just marvel at not only David's pacing, but his skill with facial expressions and panel layout. He has the ability to make quiet, low key scenes really sing, which is the sign of a great artist.

 
So, what's the timeline? Once David's done with the art, we will move quickly to get this thing lettered and put together. Ellie's coloring as pages come in. We know it's a process, and we hope it's worth the wait. We're all excited to get this book in your hands!

Hey Dusk fans - I’m so happy to be in touch with you again.

Just want to check in and keep y’all updated on production. The story, by myself and Elizabeth Little, is done and David is working away at the art. We’ve got a big chunk of the entire OGN laid out and most of the first “chapter” inked, which is good progress. David’s having a blast designing villains like El Tiburon (whom you've seen previously) and the gritty, complicated world of Blackstone. We can't wait to share it all with you!

But enough words, right? Let’s look at some ART. Here are a couple of new pages from Marcia Hahn's son, David,  that will hopefully keep you psyched as we continue to create the book for you. 

We’re taking the utmost care but also moving as quickly as we can. Thanks for your support, always!

Citizens of Blackstone!

Welcome to the June update! We wanted to drop you a note and keep you informed on all things Dusk.

To be honest, there's not much to report. There's no behind-the-scenes drama; Liz and Alex have agreed on all the verb tenses (the usual downfall of many a writing team), David is working away (a reliable artist? UNHEARD OF!) and generally, the water is smooth and the sailing is calm. 

Luckily, from the calm waters of Blackstone Bay swims beautiful artwork! 

A pretty straightforward page on first glance, right? But how many questions does it raise, like: is this The Dusk-Cave? How much do you figure The Dusk's electric bill is each month with all those monitors? Who's that Lex Luthor-looking guy The Dusk is researching? 

These are all valid questions and I'll bet two out of three of them get answered when your books arrive!

Until next month, we'll try to stir up some drama and infighting among the creative team to report on. In the meantime, everyone stay cool, get vaccinated (if you haven't) and be safe out there.  The Dusk is shaping up to be an amazing story and we can't wait to share it with all of you.

Citizens of Blackstone!

Have you missed us? We've missed you too! 

We hope all of you are doing well out there since The Dusk campaign ended. As our project progresses through the production pipeline (try saying that five times fast!), you can expect updates about once a month, maybe more frequently as The Dusk nears completion and we reach the fulfillment stage.

Team Dusk has begun work on the project. Alex and Liz have the entire book plotted out (if you don't get a little misty after you read Dusk's first adventure, we're worried about you) and David is drawing away. In fact, here's his INCREDIBLY COOL design for the first rogue in Dusk's rogue's gallery, EL TIBURON!

In future updates, we'll begin showing you interior pages but don't worry, we'll make sure no spoilers are involved!

We've also launched The Dusk pre-order store this week. If you regret missing out on any of the campaign rewards or just want a couple of extra copies of the graphic novel, you now have the ability to order those HERE! 

Team Dusk and those of us behind the scenes at Ominous Press/Creation.Ink are determined to fulfill this project in November of this year. We're in the early stages but there's definitely a growing feeling that we're building something special with The Dusk. We hope you'll agree when you've got the books in hand.

Citizens of Blackstone!

WE DID IT!! The campaign is in the books and we couldn't be more pleased. Thanks to all of you, The Dusk has become a reality. Thank you isn't a big enough word (two words, actually) to express our gratitude. So instead of trying, here's another pin up that will be colored and featured in the Hardcover edition.

If you've backed a Kickstarter campaign before,  you know what happens next. Kickstarter has begun collecting your pledges (Peggy, tell your husband to talk to us if he gets upset), which is about a two week process. In the meantime, Alex, Liz and David are already hard at work on the graphic novel.  It won't be long before Taylor and Ellie join in on the fun and next thing you know, BOOM! The Dusk is in all of our hands. We'll be updating once a month to keep everybody in the loop on our progress and showing off new bits and pieces of art and pin ups along the way.

If you're gonna miss the nonstop thrills, chills and spills of this campaign and are looking for something new to sink your teeth into, Wandering Planet Toys is running a very cool campaign right now, as they raise funds to produce action figures based on the classic TV show, THE PRISONER.
